It's almost the last day of classes in 6th Grade, and classmates Josh, Melisa, Tyler & Katie now anticipated yet another mysterious mission from a phone app to an undisclosed destination. True to its aim, the app sent the gang to another strange yet exciting outdoor adventure, this time along the beach where they got to frolic in the sand and catch waves and crabs. Things got a little bit more serious now though, with Melisa steering clear from the group when the rest decided to stay for a while instead of completing their mission. Katie sensed something brewing in her classmate's behavior, but couldn't be sure, especially when a herd of horses came galloping along their direction.I'm glad that my sons have warmed up to this Kids vs Nature series. Although they weren't that forthcoming with the possible romantic liaison or simple crush from some of the characters, my boys still love the adventures the gang had been to. We were all grateful for all the information we learned about crabs and horses and surviving in the beach without much drinkable water nearby. It is quite to stay hydrated and sated for a longer period of time. All these nuggets of information contained at the end of the book are priceless and very much appreciated. We can't wait to read another adventure for this core group!

Surviving Horse Island Kids vs Nature Book 3 edition by Karl Steam Joshua Lagman Children eBooks Reviews
A refreshing fun book, full of adventure, discovery, and growing friendships. It takes you to an island in the ocean with a beautiful beach and wild horses. A beautiful combination, but there are things to learn about surviving in such a place. Josh and 3 classmates, who live in Nebraska, have a few things to learn about their new surroundings. What a change from Nebraska! This is the 3rd book in a 7 book series. With each book comes a new mission. So far each mission has been in a different setting in nature, a wooded wilderness, a desert, and now a sandy island, each very unique. I am looking forward to book 4's next mission.
Thoughts This book is superb. I love how Karl Steam is able to keep crafting new and exciting places for Josh and his three classmates to have their adventures. I also enjoyed how the rivalry between two of Josh's classmates, Melissa and Katie, continued in the third book in the Kids vs. Nature series. For example, Katie just wanted to play on the beach all day, while Melissa wanted to find water, build a shelter, and get food to eat. A final thing that I liked about Surviving Horse Island is how it isn't only a fun, funny book to read, it also teaches about how to actually survive in the wilderness and the diffrent animals. Overall, I loved, this fun, exciting, amazing, superb book.
Disclosure I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a review. All thoughts are my own.
Entertaining, adventurous, and educational. Great for all ages boys and girls. Will read these books with my Grandson. Thank you very much.

Surviving Horse Island (Kids vs. Nature Book 3) was a very enjoyable read not only for my grandkids, but also for me! Author Karl Steam writes in a wonderful style that will guarantee the attention of young minds. I also thought the text and illustrations (by Joshua Lagman) worked very well together. We’ll be looking forward to seeing what’s coming next in this 7-book series. Five stars from us. Well done again Karl!
A refreshing change in scenery promises a day of fun for four middle school kids, but the reality of survival hits home in unexpected ways in author Karl Steam’s novel Surviving Horse Island, the third book in the Kids vs Nature series. Here’s the synopsis
Josh and three of his classmates have proven they can survive a forest and a desert, but what about an island? Can they finish a third mission and make it home alive?
This third book takes an interesting turn, as for the first time the protagonist and the other kids caught in this endless web of survival missions the app brings them on find an environment that promises fun and adventure. The author does a great job of highlighting the beauty of the world, and also showing that beauty has to be respected and cared for, as untold dangers and survival skills are needed in the most beautiful of locations.
The growing character growth and blooming relationships between characters in the book promise a deeper and engaging story than ever before. The visuals do a great job once again of creating an even and free flowing story that both educates the reader and hooks them with relatable characters.
Overall this was a wonderful read that only makes readers crave more and more of the story. With the power of the app growing and the mystery of it’s development only becoming more shadowed, the third book in this series does a wonderful job of educating readers on survival on an island and how to fend for yourself in the wild, all while drawing the reader into a fast paced read that you won’t be able to put down.
