The Sidhe, light nearly translucent almost flawless skin. They're very attractive, also incredibly vain and unconscionably cruel. While they're related to they fairies, they treat them badly with the added insult of continually tricking and manipulating them. This time their current queen, Fionuir has cast a spell making it impossible for the fairies to have children unless they have a potion from the Sidhe. Unfortunately the price for this potion is the spirit of a human, released by death the more violent the better. Quinn a wizard living in Vancouver, Canada witnesses a brutal killing by one of the fairies and the harvesting of the spirit by a Sidhe. It's something he can not ignore as a spirit wizard. Coupled with this is his memory of when the humans hunted the vampires to extinction and the loss a large pool of magical power. He knows, that these attacks could prompt the humans to do it again. Fionuir like a lot of Sidhe , never really caring about the repercussions of her actions had to be stopped. Quinn needed to find how she was doing this and why. Quinn new it would be difficult and thought he understood the cost to him, unfortunately he under estimates both.
Well written and edited. It's not a light tail but it's not terribly dark either. Interesting and an easy read.

I like to find authors with continuing characters in a series. I tried this and have been pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed this introduction to Quinn's world. I am looking forward to the next one.
A great blend of fantasy and detective work. Absolutely worth the read. You can't miss this one. Very different, excellent world building.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and its characters. I will not tell anything of the story itself as that is easy to find. I will just say that I like continuing characters but when each book is complete in and of itself as this one is. I look forward to finding out whether Quinn takes on an apprentice and whether he solves his new physical issue. And that is besides looking forward to the next adventure.
